In a suspicious sword attack, a 17-year-old was wounded near a Catholic high school in Gloucester, leading to the arrest of two individuals. Authorities were called to Chalford Road, adjacent to St Peter's High School in Tuffley, around 8:50 a.m. on Friday. According to available information, two men, one of them holding a sword, were spotted following two 17-year-old teenagers. After this incident, the suspects fled the scene on foot.

The Gloucestershire constabulary confirmed that one of the victims suffered a superficial wound, allegedly from a sword weapon, while the other young man involved suffered no physical injury. Armed police took control at the scene to locate the suspects.

As a result of this event, St Peter's High School and the neighbouring primary school, Willow Primary Academy, were put into lockdown during the day on Friday. The investigation process continued: a 19-year-old man was detained during the night and another 18-year-old volunteered for police on Saturday morning. Both suspects are from Gloucester and are in police custody for questioning.

A student at St Peter's High School

Police said that on Friday a woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting a criminal but was released on bail pending further clarification.

A student at St Peter's High School, named Jimmy, told the BBC that the situation was extremely frightening; the students were held in their classrooms for several hours, expressing their fear and palpitations at the time. The parents also received notifications from the high school, informing them of the incident but assuring them that the situation was under control.

Inspector Sophie Dawkins of the Police Criminal Investigation Service (CID) sent a message of understanding to the public's concern, especially given the proximity of the school at the time of the students' departure. It specified that armed officers were deployed for the search, in collaboration with the drone unit and the National Police Air Service. Work is underway to identify and locate those involved. A series of investigations are actively underway, and the proximity team has been present at the incident area all along, to reassure the parents of the absence of a widespread threat. Dawkins strongly requested any information from the citizens who did not testify, including on-board camera footage or any other relevant video material.
